OVERVIEW

This position will be responsible for managing a wide range of duties, involving repossession, redemptions, remarketing and recovery of collateral in a shared service environment. The primary goal is to manage the repossession processes and effectively manage the assets disposition in accordance to all regulations and state specific laws.

Problem resolution of more complex member issues and concerns, are required of this position. This includes the ability to handle seriously delinquent accounts and members who are in financial difficulty in an appropriate manner to minimize losses.

The Repossession Specialist is an entry level position and will be responsible for managing the repossession process, asset disposition, and redemption and remarketing. The position requires vendor management of the Repossession Company who will handle the remarketing of all Credit Union.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist internal and external members with inquiries regarding, holds, warnings and negative share members
  • Place, monitor and remove lockouts pursuant to procedures outlined in the Collection Manual
  • Act as a liaison between vendors, insurance agency, and credit union partner
  • Approve all vehicles for repossession to include verification of lien holder, member notices and loan documents
  • Use Auto IMS to place unit with Repossession Company
  • Process physical damage and skip claims through VSI or CPI (if applicable)
  • Prepare and send notices of repossession and right of redemption (if applicable)
  • Prepare file for redemption of vehicle
  • Prepare title work for sale at auction to include floor price
  • Process auction proceeds and prepare transmittal outlining reconciliation of sale and expenses (if applicable)
  • Prepare and process invoices for repossession expenses
  • Prepare repossession and auctions monthly reports for credit union partners
  • Process all loan maintenance to prepare file for charge off
  • Notate all system of records
  • Coordinate voluntary surrenders
  • Dispose of repossessed collateral in a timely fashion through auto auctions and other sales and repossession agents
  • Obtain titles from the Titles Department
  • Obtain files from the Operations Support Department
  • Track the status of all vehicles or collateral assigned for repossession
  • File Credit Life, warranty, and damage claims with the insurance company
  • Ensure the timely and accurate posting of the proceeds of sales
  • Ensure the timely and correct posting of insurance claim payments
  • Ensure the timely and correct posting of warranty and Credit Life Claim payments
  • Arrange for repayment schedules for deficiency balances
  • Initiate and track rewrite loans for the repayment of deficiency balances
  • All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma requires/Associate's Degree or higher preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong working knowledge of a variety of other computer software
  • Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to tactfully question or actively listen and negotiate effectively with members, employees/departments, to determine specific needs and solutions
  • Excellent analytical abilities to review all loan detail, and member issues to recommend possible workout solutions
  • Knowledge of repossession, auction and title processes preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workload based on mandatory requirements and member service level agreements
  • Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to multi-task in other areas of the unit
