Job Description Summary:

The Director of Product Management will be responsible for driving the interlock between operational success and product direction in a specific partner-driven area of the solutions portfolio. With complex relationships that permeate product development, roadmaps, go-to-market and operational execution, this person will be responsible for strategically driving towards revenue growth in a nuanced market. They will draw upon an understanding of market dynamics, senior-level alliance management, product knowledge and customer needs to drive success in this area of the business unit.
This individual will build strong relationships with their engineering counterparts within the company, as well as with sales, marketing and go-to-market leadership to ensure that the products in their portfolio are well-positioned in market. Building alignment around the business unit’s product direction throughout the company will be critical to driving growth in revenues, customer satisfaction and market position. Further, they will engage externally, most critically with key partners but also with customers and analysts, to communicate the roadmap and benefits of the solutions to each constituency.
This leader plays a key role in capturing the business opportunity and translating it into functional, and technical requirements necessary to implement competitive new products and features. This is done by working to elicit, analyze, validate, document, verify, and manage opportunities and requirements through the development life cycle.
The right candidate is a self-motivated individual, who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. They must be able to balance competing priorities, manage expectations, and both engage with engineering on a granule basis and strategically build long term plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead partner and customer engagement to build relationships and drive alignment on roadmap and joint growth plans
  • Understand customer pains and domain landscape in your product portfolio to be an advocate for addressing those customer and partner needs. This includes anticipating future customer needs.
  • Understand product strengths and weaknesses, and balance feature requests against market opportunities and maintenance requirements
  • Frame market segmentation and targeting in order to define market opportunities for the overall product portfolio
  • Build business cases for expanding market presence
  • Oversee and provide direction for the creation and socialization of product-level documents
  • Engage Product Marketing in the process for creating product positioning, value propositions and messaging that resonates with the buying audience
  • Supporting corporate development activities in identifying new inorganic options and integrating acquisitions
  • Lead competitive and win/loss analysis. Support analyst relations by acting as a spokesperson for the business unit solutions
  • Support enablement efforts for sales and channel partners
  • Serve as a market-facing subject matter expert for your product portfolio

Required Qualifications:

We're looking for an experienced leader who excels in partnering and influencing in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.This individual will oversee integration teams and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all relevant tasks are completed. This individual must be a self-starter, able to work autonomously, "roll up the sleeves,” natural problem solver, collaborative, and not fazed by adversity or ambiguity. Additional personal and professional attributes include:

  • Expertise with product management of B2B applications
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Sales, Business Development/Pricing, and Marketing
  • Plan, execute, and lead successful product launches
  • Strategic thinker, creative problem solver and strong analytical skills
  • Influencing and communicating product offers to customers, prospects, sales, industry analysts and trade press

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of related product or business experience with data center technologies
  • Experience with project management approaches, including discovery, scoping, planning, and leading project reviews among business partners and stakeholders
  • Experience with a rapidly scaling technology/software business
  • Experience in team/people management or functional leadership roles

Education:

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Business, Technology or related field
  • MBA strongly preferred

Travel Requirements: 5-10%, infrequent travel
