Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Chief IT Business Officer is the senior administrative and financial strategist for the IT Division. This position independently provides direct oversight to of the Division’s finances (budget), business processes (administration), human resources and resources, ensuring effective and insightful management. The incumbent works collaboratively with IT Leadership to support IT vision, provide policy direction, and develop strategies. This position exhibits a high level of sound independent judgement. The Finance and Resource Director is primarily responsible for delivery of overall administrative solutions to the IT Division and serves as Senior Leadership member.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience. Must have a minimum of 4-6 years of progressively responsible administrative responsibilities with emphasis on budget and personnel process management in a large and complex organization. Must have experience in providing work direction to administrative staff involved in billing, budgeting, contract management, purchasing, and human relation processes and procedures activities.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Proven skill and working knowledge of Information Technology (IT) and/or Higher Ed financial forecasting/control, budget benchmarking, data analysis and IT procurement.
  • Skilled knowledge in union environment staff planning and position management. Including expertise in employee relations.
  • Working knowledge of auditing oversight and compliance for resource management.
  • Working knowledge of IT business processes for a large institution.
  • Command of analytical tools (monetary and other assessment types).
  • Skilled at organizational change management and organizational politics.
  • Ability to use SharePoint
  • Ability to use Omni Update
  • Knowledge of Pinnacle Billing and Work Order System, or similar system.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply appropriate SDSU Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Peoplesoft.
  • Working knowledge of CSU and SDSU policies.
  • Experience as Divisional Coordinator for finance and human resources.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
