Area: 378810 - ER-M Nursing
Shift: 12 hour shifts (.9 FTE ) / Day shift, Every Other Weekend Required
Emergency Room Technician Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Technician assists and augments the registered nursing staff in providing high quality patient care in the Emergency Room. The ERT must demonstrate the expertise and competency of all paramedic skills in accordance with Illinois State law.
Emergency Room Technician Required Qualifications
Located in Historic Hyde Park, UChicago Medicine is a not-for-profit integrated and academic health system of hospital and physician services, providing world class care since 1927. UChicago Medicine operates four hospitals and a state-of-the-art ambulatory-care facility located within a medical center campus of twenty interconnected buildings, along with several satellite facilities situated throughout Chicago’s south suburbs. In addition, Ingalls Memorial Hospital is located outside of the main medical campus in Harvey, IL. Today, UChicago Medicine and Biological Sciences Division, including Ingalls Memorial Hospital encompass over 800 beds and employ nearly 12,000 people, which includes more than 800 attending physicians, 1100 residents and fellows, and 2,600 nurses.

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 36 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the first shift, from approximately 7:00am-7:00pm and won’t be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) only every other week. - High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have current CPR training recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS/PALS certification - Preferred
- EMT-B required
- EMT-P - Preferred
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of patient assistance without direct supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public.
