Job Description


This is a brand new position due to growth and will report directly to the Vice President of Finance (acting CFO).

 

The Corporate Controller will have a successful track record of working in a manufacturing/multi-site environment - building cooperation and collaboration across the various functions and geographies of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Consolidated Financial Statements

 
  • Oversight and review of consolidated Financial Statements monthly and in accordance with defined deadlines
  • Oversee the coordination of financial statement activity to ensure the accuracy, transparency, and reconciliation are in place across the Company’ s organization
  • Review of company reporting to ensure key P&L and Balance Sheet variances are understood and explained and ensure that financials have been reported in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

 

Manufacturing Finance

 
  • Manage all accounting activities for cost of sales including standard cost analysis and inventory valuation.
  • Responsible for the management of cost accounting functions for corporate operations, including the maintenance of the standard cost system, month-end closing, reserve analysis and audit support, review and control of cost accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a monthly and daily manufacturing performance reporting system
  • Actively work with plant management related to cost, manufacturing processes, reporting, and process improvement.  Accountable for plant financial reporting and business planning that include annual budgets, forecasts and performance standards.
  • Responsible for the capital budgeting process related to manufacturing and operations.  Review and update all capital spending projects and programs to ensure timeliness of completion.
  • Work closely with Operations to reduce cost and improve inventory control and manufacturing performance.
  • Manage and drive process changes within both the Accounting and Operations organizations.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance for internal controls and procedures.
  • Work closely with the business systems organization to maintain and improve the ERP manufacturing and accounting modules.

 

Management of the Company’ s FP&A Function

 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and/or ad hoc financial analysis
  • Oversee the completion of a Monthly Reporting Package that explains the Financial and KPI results of the Company
  • Draft a Monthly Overview of the Consolidated Financial and KPI results to complement the Monthly Reporting Package for delivery to the Company’ s Board of Directors
  • Oversee the Company’ s Budget process for each fiscal year
  • Work with the team to establish Budget targets for each department of the Company’ s operations that will be reviewed and ratified by the CEO and VP of Finance before kicking off the annual budget cycle
  • Oversee the Company’ s Forecast process
  • Drive and/or complete ad hoc financial analysis to gain insight and understanding of the business and ultimately drive improvement and change to the business as needed or required by the business operations

 

Annual External Audit

 
  • Manage and coordinate the Company’ s annual external audit
  • Manage the Company’ s outsourced preparation of its annual income tax provision
  • Ensure that the audit is smooth, on time, and within budget through proactive and engaged communication with the auditor and internal contributors
  • Maintain up-to-date and relevant accounting knowledge to ensure that the Company is reporting its financial statements in compliance with the most relevant GAAP pronouncements

 

Internal Controls

 
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to ensure Financial Statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Consistently evaluate and improve financial-related practices and procedures
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures

 

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the manufacturing industry and a strong mind for strategy.   Additionally, s/he should be a self-starter that works proactively and communicates effectively with their leadership, their team, and their colleagues across the organization.

 
  • 10+ years of overall combined finance/accounting experience, five years in a management capacity
  • MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Deep manufacturing experience required - multi-site experience highly preferred
  • Possess a Deep analytical capability
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same
  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex data in a concise and understandable manner
  • Strong presentation skills including the presentation of financial information to a non-financial audience
  • Experience presenting financial results to a Board of Directors a plus
  • History of strong ethical behavior a must
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. V-lookups, formulas, pivot tables, filtering and sorting) and experience in ERP Systems
  • Detail oriented, analytical, driven to deliver accurate and consistent results under tight deadlines.
