About WAFB:

WAFB-TV is the dominant CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The station began broadcasting on April 19, 1953, as the first television station in Baton Rouge, and the second television station in the state of Louisiana. 

Job Summary:

WAFB is seeking an Investigative Reporter to join our award-winning news team.  

General Responsibilities:

• At least two years of television reporting and/or anchoring is preferred
• Experience with ENPS newsroom software editing a plus
• Experience with writing for digital and social media platforms is required
• Excellent broadcasting writing experience is a must
• Have experience with many platforms including web, mobile and social networks
• Ability to tell complicated stories with “live ability” required
• Must possess a strong understanding of daily newscast content and work in conjunction with producers to develop a dynamic product
• Strong initiative, attention to detail, and advanced ethical decision-making skills required
• Present information in a fair, unbiased manner
• Develop story ideas to present including digital components in morning/afternoon news meeting. Interview subjects and research facts for credibility
• Deliver content on social media and web. Edit video and stories for broadcast
• Develop contacts and establish self in community

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or related field required
