Summary of the Senior Hardware Engineer:
Senior level Hardware Engineer with experience in design of complex electronic control systems is needed to play a vital role in design and development of board level hardware and embedded circuits using microprocessors or microcontrollers for one of our clients in Wisconsin. This client is a well known brand across the world for its power generation products. They are working with the latest and greatest innovations in the industry. If you have experience with designing board level hardware, embedded circuits and schematics along with the knowledge of microprocessors/microcontrollers and PCB layout, then this position is well suited to you. It's a good stepping stone to more advanced engineering positions within the company.
Responsibilities of the Senior Hardware Engineer:
Research and select hardware components
Design and develop board level hardware and embedded circuits using microprocessors/microcontrollers
Design embedded circuits encompassing both analog and digital circuitry
Design circuits with both switched and linear power supplies
Create schematics using CAD tools and troubleshoot designs to the component level
Supervise PCB layout; specify component placement, analog/digital, high speed, power planes layout guidelines
Use test firmware/software to verify the hardware and participate in design reviews
Use Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) techniques
Use simulation tools such as PSpice
Supports product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs)
Develop and maintain documentation, such as test procedures, manuals, etc.
Apply engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes
Use lab equipment including oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, and power supplies
Guide less experienced engineers and travel to other facilities when required
Qualifications of the Senior Hardware Engineer:
BS in Engineering (EE/CE preferred)
MUST HAVE 4+ years of experience in designing board level hardware and embedded circuits
Ability to write test plans for hardware designs.
Knowledge of RF/wireless controls and Digital Signal Processing is a plus
Knowledge of conducting FMEA/DFMEA analysis and simulation software such as Matlab Simulink
Knowledge of agency compliance such as UL, CSA, NEC, CE, FCC, NFPA, EPA
Experience with design release process and communication hardware interface knowledge, such as RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, Flash, EEPROM, ADC/DAC, WiFi/Bluetooth
Experience in design of industrial/automotive electronic control systems and assemblies will be preferred
Experience with Freescale PowerPC and/or Microchip PIC microcontrollers will be preferred
Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and layout will be preferred
Experience with designing battery charging circuitry will be preferred
Compensation of the Senior Hardware Engineer:
Salary Range: $95,000-115,000/year, based on experience
Location: Waukesha, WI
Type: Direct
