Job Summary:

The Sports Director oversees the sports content for KKCO/KJCT, coordinating and producing compelling stories on deadline for broadcasts and on all digital platforms. Responsible for shooting, reporting and editing local sports stories daily. Anchoring sportscasts is included in regular duties. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and reporting local sports stories
• Shooting and editing sports video
• Live reports
• Staying current on sports topics, local teams and local sports developments through reading, research and contact with sports sources
• Writing and posting sports stories to our websites daily
• Posting sports stories, updates on all station social media platforms
• Learning and implementing all Newsroom technology
• Produce high-quality sports packages
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication or related field preferred
• Prior experience as a sports reporter and/or director will be given strong consideration
• Experience as a television news or sports reporter preferred
• Strong sports knowledge is a requirement
• Good writing skills and ability to function under deadline pressure
• Shooting and video editing skills required
• Strong communication skills
