Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance, recordkeeping, and oversight of all Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) Detection systems as well as mail processing equipment, sensors and associated equipment to maintain mail security and the security of the operation. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

 

  • Experience in decontamination systems set up, break down and preventative maintenance.
  • A background with in-depth knowledge of chemical, biological and radiological detection equipment to include operator level (or higher) calibration and preventative maintenance.
  • A demonstrated, working knowledge of the key components used for mail and parcel screening with relevant experience in troubleshooting, and maintenance of such equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

  • A demonstrated working knowledge in equipment trouble shooting utilizing drawings, schematics, manufacturers detailed information or educated deductive reasoning.
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills to disassemble/assemble technical equipment for the purposes of maintenance, troubleshooting or repair.
  • Demonstrated fluency in standard computer desktop software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of typical response actions to possible incidents involving explosives, hazardous material, biological agents and chemicals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Maintain and demonstrate an ability to foresee and proactively resolve problems within the area of his/her job related responsibilities with a minimal amount of direct, day-to-day supervision. This ability necessarily requires demonstrated initiative, a desire for excellence, a positive work ethic and the flexibility to respond to needs throughout the facility.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around the building site; see, hear and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients.  Performance of essential and ancillary functions requires maintenance of physical conditioning adequate for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at time lift and carry up to as much as 60 pounds, near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech with background noise.
