Job Description

Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP of Operations for one of the largest and most experienced crane businesses in North America.
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing overall operations of its Rigging & Transport Division. A strong leader whom can lead by example, provide direction and development of current and future projects. Overall responsibilities will include managing operations and projects for the division. Responsibilities include: Lead all aspects of the rigging & transportation division; Customer interfacing to include working on quality and billing matters, addressing any concerns or issues; Develops, plans and implements schedules for rigging crew in alignment with customer direction; Directs workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule; Develop, train, and instruct rigging, heavy haul crews in best practices; Participates in hiring, coaching and training new team members; Effectively manage site projects by organizing all project information to ensure they are accurate; Works professionally and effectively alongside other customer onsite subcontractors and vendors; Directly supervises the Rigging & Transportation team; Conduct project handoff meetings with Operations personnel to ensure complete understanding of scope, estimate, contractual obligations and risk of jobs prior to execution; Work closely with Branch Managers to manage customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management; Participate with Regional and Branch Managers as needed on job walks and assisting with customer bids/estimates to accurately price projects; Works closely with safety personnel in coordinating safety training, accident and injury investigations and reporting, and equipment or property damage incidents, as well as to develop an effective safety culture amongst the team.

Background Required:
  • Rigging / Specialized Transport / Heavy Lift Operations Management (10 years)
  • Plan, setup, direct & manage specialty lifting / moving projects
  • Knowledge of specialty lifting / moving equipment: gantries, slide systems, custom-engineered solutions
  • Staff management / scheduling of manpower and equipment
  • Read / understand engineering drawings & blueprints
  • Knowledge & understanding of lift / rigging plans
  • Knowledge of estimates, proposals & contracts
  • Interacting with target customers, i.e. customers, contractors, vendors)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Location: SW US
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Fleet Software / ERP systems: NextGen, etc.
  • Safety Training and/or Certifications (OSHA 10-hour, signaling, rigging, fall protection, CPR/1st aid)
