Job Description

Lab Coordinator – Natural Sciences
Emmanuel College invites applications for the part-time position Lab Coordinator for the Department of Natural Sciences. This is a 9-month, hourly position in which the candidate will work up to 38 hours a week as needed for the 9-month academic term.
This position will support chemistry and biology labs in the Natural Sciences Department. The candidate must be knowledgeable in biology and chemistry and have experience in laboratory procedures and techniques. Organization and multi-tasking skills are essential and the ability to meet deadlines is an integral part of the position.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and organize materials and equipment for biology and chemistry labs
o includes calculating, measuring, mixing, dispensing, and labeling chemicals o discuss laboratory needs and experimental procedures with instructors
• Setup labs with materials needed for weekly lab activity
• Maintains inventory of chemicals, equipment, and supplies, including MSDS
• Orders and receives all supplies and equipment for labs
• Purchases local supplies as needed
• Prepares hazardous materials for disposal by proper labeling and packaging
• Maintains current knowledge of laboratory procedures and principles and practices of chemistry and biology
Required Qualifications:
• A B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, or related science along with laboratory experience
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must have chemical lab skills for safe and accurate handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
• Computer competency and experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel required
