Job Description

 Position Summary:

The Lead Clinician reports to the Program Manager and supervises the Clinicians. The Lead Clinician works closely with all staff members, consulting and collaborating on minor's progress and treatment plans.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to work varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

Education/Experience:

· The Lead Clinician must possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or other graduate program in Psychology, Counseling or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.

· Licensed Clinicians must be registered with the California BBS as an LMFT or LCSW.

· The Lead Clinician must be approved by the BBS to provide supervision hours to registered Associates.

· Two years’ experience working with infant/toddlers, children, adolescents and families with emotional problems is required.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

· LMFT or LCSW

· Certified in one or more EBPs such as TF-CBT, MAP, Seeking Safety, PCIT, CPP, IPT

Requirements:

1. Documentation of the required education and experience requirements shall be maintain in the personnel file.

2. Employee must undergo a pre-employment physical examination. This examination will be given at the employee expense by a license physician and will include a TB test as requires by Community Care Licensing. Additionally, immunization records must be submitted per ORR regulations.

3. Employee must submit to a Live Scan fingerprints process. Each employee must receive clearance from Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Child Abuse Index per Community Care Licensing.

4. Employee must sign a statement acknowledging the child and elder abuse and neglect reporting.

5. Participate in employee orientations, initial training, and ongoing training.

6. Have a current California Driver License and automobile insurance.

7. Employee must have the ability to use office machines, word processors, computers, etc. to prepare the necessary documentation, reports, etc. regarding the clients being served by agency, responsibilities in Penal Code Section 11164 et seq.

8. Employee shall complete a minimum of one-hour training in the area of child and elder abuse recognition, identification, assessing and reporting.

9. Attainment of at least 21 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

· Ability to read, speak, understand, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals in the English language.

· Ability to write professional/clinical reports and correspondence.

· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

· Must be able to function independently and be able to seek guidance when necessary to assist in working with children and families.

· Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers effectively.

· Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV and V).

· Good knowledge of a variety of therapeutic interventions and models emphasizing empirically validated interventions

· Knowledge of child/adolescent development.

· Knowledge of child abuse and substance abuse issues.

· Knowledge of legal/ethical issues as outlined by BBS.

· Knowledge of DPSS/CPS reporting mandates and limits of confidentiality.

· Knowledge of family dynamics.

· Knowledge of anger management and coping skills.

· Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications.

· Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills.

· Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner.

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Skill to accurately diagnose and assess clients.

· Ability to relate to children and families in a positive manner.

· Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families.

· Understand and respond to a diverse population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide Supervision to Registered Associates

Provide Individual and Group Therapy to UAC.

· Assess minor needs and level of functioning including a bio psychosocial assessment of all minors referred to the case load.

· Provide crisis counseling to minor/resource families as necessary.

· Write safety, behavioral, and treatment plans.

· Schedule and coordinate therapy sessions.

· Provide clinical interventions for teachers, resource parents, and other agency staff to generalize skills in other environments.

· Meet with minor for individual and group therapy sessions.

· Provide collateral parties with information to best meet the minor's needs as necessary.

Paperwork and Documentation.

· Write daily/weekly progress notes for each therapy session and mental health service.

· Complete appropriate mental health documentation, including but not limited to progress reports, and termination reports as required.

· Continuously review files for new and/or relevant information concerning the minor.

· Prepare and maintain files in accordance with audit requirements.

Training and Consultation

· Attend case conferences with program staff.

· Attend weekly supervision meetings with therapy supervisor if unlicensed, to comply with California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) licensing requirements.

· Licensed Therapists who have met the California BBS requirements to provide supervision, may provide weekly individual and/or group supervision for unlicensed clinicians so they may obtain licensing hours

Other

· Attend external training/conferences to meet licensing requirements and keep up to date with current information and developments.

· Present information gathered at conferences at clinical meetings and staff in-services/training as appropriate.

· Attend Med. reviews as needed for clients receiving medication.

· Perform other duties as assigned.
