Job Summary

The Production Floater will assist the employees to ensure they are fully resourced and adhere to processes necessary for completion of daily production requirements, compliance with all food safety requirements, and adherence to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).  In this capacity, follows all procedures related to quality, efficiency and safety.  Additionally, the Floater will also train and backfill all positions for their team, including Production worker, Machine Op, Quality Tech, Lead, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The Production Team Floater is responsible for carrying out various warehouse activities including QA, Lead, Material Handler, Machine Operator, etc. in order to maintain continuous backup of all production team functions as needed.
2. Start up and stop equipment.
3.  Assist with production.
4.  Cleans production area.
5.  Sweep, mop, and remove debris.
6.  Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.
7.   Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.
8.   Ensure conformance to specifications.
9.   Turn valves to regulate flow of liquids or gas.
10.   Mix ingredients.
11.   Mark parts for identification.
12.    Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing.
13.   Scrape waste material from machine.
14.    Record data.
15.   Load and unload processing equipment.
16.   Package finished products.
17.  Take instructions from supervisors.
18.  Efficiently and safely move product to the proper area for use following all department and QA procedures.
19.   Sorting, wrapping, packing, repacking as needed.  Transfer finished goods pallets to the holding freezer.
20.  Return raw materials, WIP’s or packaging materials to the respective department or location in accordance to the department’s procedures for receiving and returning materials.
21.  Proper housekeeping throughout the shift and in all departmental areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; at least 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages.  Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and quantity measurements.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
