Job Description

II-VI Aerospace & Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. JOB FUNCTION:

Under minimal supervision, performs optical and mechanical assembly of high complexity requiring fitting, alignment and adjustment of components, units and assemblies to very close tolerances. Prioritizes work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

4 years experience in similar assembly operation. High level of manual dexterity, Knowledge of an ability to use a wide variety of hand tools and knowledge of soldering. Soldering certification required.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blue prints.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, extensive use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Must posses a high level of manual dexterity and care in handling easily damaged parts. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must demonstrate the ability to inspect parts with eye loupe and read small graduations of a micrometer and depth gauge. Ability to wear safety gear for extended period of time.
