Job Description:

JSL Technologies, Inc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technical Writer / Editor with a demonstrated track record of excellence for an exciting position supporting the Navy in San Diego, CA.

About the customer: The Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (PEO C4I), Communications and GPS Navigation Program Office (PMW/A 170) provides long distance, tactical, strategic communications and navigation systems for ships at sea and facilities ashore.

PMW/A 170 is responsible for the acquisition, integration, delivery, and support of all communications and navigation systems.

PMW/A-170 provides and supports inter-operable, cost effective communications and position navigation, and time services, enabling information dominance for maritime forces.

The scope of the operation includes support services required to support the acquisition, development, procurement, testing, fielding, End to End (E2E) system operations and operations and support of those systems. The work activities will be performed in the following areas: Product Support Management; Supply Support; Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS Design interface; Sustainment Engineering; Technical Data; Computer Resources, Facilities and infrastructure; Manpower and Personnel; Support Equipment; Training and Training Support.

Obtain the full range of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) planning, products, and documentation required for the acquisition, development, procurement, testing, fielding, and operations and support of PMW/A 170. These tasks will be performed at both the overall PMW and individual program or “direct support” level(s) for the above PMW/A 170 programs to achieve milestone and E2E requirements.

The work activities will be performed in the following areas: Product Support Management; Supply Support; Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS Design interface; Sustainment Engineering; Technical Data; Computer Resources, Facilities and infrastructure; Manpower and Personnel; Support Equipment; Training and Training Support.

Write and edit technical documentation, reports, briefing materials, ILS Schedules, support plans, meeting minutes.

Develop and update technical documentation in digital format as prescribed by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Research, Acquisition and Development Memorandum.

Review Provisioning Technical Documentation (PTD) and participate in provisioning guidance conferences to evaluate hardware contractor supply support planning, make comments and recommendations; alternative spares planning; and Naval Supply (NAVSUP)/ PMW data calls.

Provide inputs as required for the entry and exit criteria for possible System Engineering Technical Reviews.

Provide the government will all source data from final issue technical manuals.

Develop, review, update, and assist in creation of logistics documentation (includes product support package), strategies, reviews (i.e. ILA) schedules and plans to support production, deployment and fielding.

Provide updates as required for Integrated Logistics Support Plan (ILSP), Acquisition Logistics Support Plans (ALSP), Life Cycle Support Plan (LCSP) and User Logistics Support Summaries (ULSS) and other documentation as required in accordance with established PMW/A 170/PEO C4I & Space policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance level Secret.
  • Demonstrated Senior level Navy Technical writer experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance level Secret.
  • Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years’ experience in editing documents, proofing and technical writing with the Navy or comparable department of Defense agencies.
  • Desired experience in drafting and editing XML technical documents and/or SCORM compliant training documentation.
  • Desired knowledge of regulations and policies affecting publishing of Navy publications; practices, and standards.
  • Desired substantial subject-matter or technical knowledge to develop written products that articulate, interpret, and explain highly complex programs, equipment, and technical equipment.

Security Clearance:
Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
