Position Description:

The project associate assists the New York/New Jersey Regional Director and Project Managers in achieving our goal of producing a minimum of three new projects in NY/NJ per annum.  TCB teams work together to combine our development capacity, financial strength, property management and human development efforts, all guided by our mission to build and sustain strong communities where people of all incomes can achieve their full potential.   To reach critical mass in strategically important target markets, the Project Associate will be expected to assist in providing an elevated level of insight and analysis, supported by thoughtful and strategic relationship management.

Essential Functions:

  • Assisting the Regional Director in building and sustaining a robust pipeline of impactful projects in Tier I markets.  This will involve research (who owns the property, who are the stakeholders, what are the comparable prices, etc.), obtaining documents (assessor’s maps, zoning regulations, registry deeds, etc.), and preparing maps and documents (using available templates, and where not available, creating new ones, to produce Requests for Proposals, funding applications, responses to RFPs, etc.)
  • Conducting due diligence to assess viability of projects. 
  • Organizing meetings (contacting attendees, preparing agendas, keeping minutes, distributing notes, etc.)
  • Keeping files (filing documents and correspondence appropriately)
  • Tracking project tasks (calling participants to encourage progress, visiting sites to monitor progress, inputting data into tracking software, reporting progress to project manager, and notifying project manager when tasks are not on track)
  • Handling routine calls and correspondence
  • Handling routine project tasks (requisitions, A/P for several projects)
  • Input data into existing models (spreadsheets, charts, tables) to assist in due diligence
  • Create forms, spreadsheets, charts, tables and business letters as required to present project information
  • Preparing materials for meetings and presentations, including PowerPoint presentations, written handouts, charts, photographs, etc.
  • Assisting the Development Director and project managers with other tasks as needed to further the successful completion of the NE region’s projects.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks of the office including communications, record keeping, correspondence, filing, maintenance of office equipment etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid computer skills (experience with MS Office Suite a must) and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software programs
  • Ability to undertake, balance, and manage multiple tasks and assignments
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Be a self-starter and able to work independently
  • The project associate is accountable to several project managers in the region, but reports to TCB’s NY Director of Development

   

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline. Master’s Degree in public policy, urban planning or related is preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years related job experience, ideally project administrative experience in a corporate real estate environment, preferably managing due diligence process for closing with investors and lenders in a LIHTC transaction environment. Related experience acceptable.
