Heritage Senior Living is seeking a Life Enrichment/Activities Assistant to join our senior living community!

Heritage Senior Living’s goals are to enhance residents’ quality of life and to continue its growth and success. Our plan is to open one to two new senior communities per year and develop centers of excellence that provide comfort, care, quality, and specialized dementia services.
The life enrichment/activities assistant works with the life enrichment director in planning, coordinating and implementing a wide range of recreational activities for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement group activities as directed by the activity director
- Encourage residents to engage in active participation
- One-to-one visits with residents to provide socialization
- Provide sensory stimulation in a group setting
- Maintain the general housekeeping of activity areas
- Report supply needs to the life enrichment/activities director
- Prior to activities, invite and assist in transporting residents to and from activity areas
- Attend in-service training and continuing education workshops as directed by the life enrichment director. Ensure a written record of such attendance is provided for facility records
- Recognize abnormal signs and symptoms that signify a physical or mental change in a resident’s condition that would require nursing intervention
- Constantly be on alert for conditions that may interfere with the safety and well-being of residents involved in activity pursuits. Report hazardous conditions to the life enrichment director or nurse immediately
- Assist with planning and implementing community outings
- Notify family/responsible party of outings
- Maintain written records of resident participation of activities within POC (point of care)
- Complete other documentation as directed by supervisor
- Remain motivated and enthusiastic when working with residents
- Utilize effective techniques to encourage residents to actively participate in activities
- Adapt activities to resident disabilities, i.e. ensuring that hearing impaired residents are seated close to the speaker, etc.
- Effectively supervise volunteers and students
- Effectively work with caregivers/CNAs and the director of nursing to coordinate activities
- Keep professional matters confidential
- Abide by the established policies of the facility and the licensing agencies
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred
- CNA certification desirable but not required
- Ability to speak, write and read English
- Caring and compassionate attitude with true concern for people required
- Ability to work independently
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work collaboratively with all coworkers
- Must submit and pass all applicable pre-employment and annual tests and meet all training and other applicable state and federal regulations
