Job Description
Fisher Dynamics is seeking a skilled PLC Technician to support our Troy production facility.
The Controls Technician is responsible for electronic control equipment and apparatus as associated with automated machine tools, servo-mechanism, etc., of complex and involved design requiring broad technical knowledge of electro-mechanical principles and equipment design plus specialized skills and techniques.
Job Requirements
- Work closely with engineers and mechanics on troubleshooting production equipment, making improvements to existing equipment, assisting with installation of new equipment and automated systems or the change-over of plant layout requirement the movement of machines and control equipment
- Electrical troubleshooting of assembly equipment, automated systems, press machines, robotic welders, and various production machinery as required
- Program machinery using various software programs to automate the machines
- Responsible for preventative maintenance, mechanical,hydraulic/pneumatic repairs as needed
- Read electrical schematics and other documents to diagnose and repair machinery and equipment
- Diagnose & Troubleshoot machinery and equipment, make needed repairs
- Communicate with co-workers and others to carry out job duties
- Various other duties as required by the department
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus formal training leading to Electrician status in Machine Repair and/or equivalent on the job experience
Experience
Four+ years of experience with controls software and related production support
Skills
- Advanced equipment troubleshooting skills
- Prefer experience or with software programming (Versa Pro, Cimplicity, RS Logic 500 & 5000, AutoCad, Factory Talk View, Panel Builder, Servox, Logic Master 90, Quick Designer & Motion Pro)
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Motoman Robots
- Knowledge of ISO/TS16949
- Operate manual and electronic micrometers, calipers, and gages, grinding machines and drill presses
- Ability to operate multimeters, hole knockouts, switch testers, solder stations, amp probes, engraves, and electric drills
- Knowledge of cutting, calculating speeds and feeds, machine setup, blueprint reading, and electrical schematic reading
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic systems sufficient to diagnose and repair machines
- Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees
- Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks are required
Licensure
Valid driver’s license, hi-lo license, and journeyman status or accredited certificate required.
Safety
Safety glasses and hearing protection required. Other safety equipment required on an as needed basis.

Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of an office setting and manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
Working environment and physical requirements of this position are those typical of a manufacturing environment. Job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move in and around equipment and machinery throughout the plant(s), including second story areas. This may include climbing on, in and around locked out machinery and equipment. Must be able to identify colors for purposes of executing machine and equipment repairs. The ability to lift 40 pounds is required.
