Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Assistant System Administrator & IT Solutions Consultant.

Position Description:

  • Assistant System Administrator
    • Serve as a backup for the duties of the System Administrator.
    • Serve as a Service Level Owner (SLO) of critical core Infrastructure services as directed by the System Administrator.
    • Assist with system maintenance, upgrades, replacements and servicing as required and scheduled.
    • Participate as well as lead in the daily maintenance and support requirements of the Infrastructure systems.
    • Assist in and/or lead specific networking projects as directed.
    • Work closely with End-User Support (Tier 1) to provide support, training, and documentation for Infrastructure services as requested.
  • Solutions Consultant
    • Serve as the primary service level owner for managing and administering the University’s image development and deployment strategy working closely with other key stakeholders to ensure the requisite application and utilities.
    • Serve as lead innovator in developing and supporting new and existing application, systems, and data resources integration with other campus systems.
    • Assist in recommendation, development, and implementation of necessary software, system, and platform integration and data exchange with other campus information systems.
    • Work closely with Systems Analyst, Systems Administrators and other IT staff to provide consultation and support.
    • Participate in projects for implementing new software, systems, and data resources including feasibility studies, requirements gathering, alternative analysis, project management, project development, relations with software vendors, user training, conversion of processes and procedures.
    • Work with Directors and CIO to define information and reporting needs.
    • Perform complex analysis of information flows and office procedures and suggest improvements to make better use of information systems.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant information security and privacy policies as well as related government regulations.


Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and five years of related experience.  This position requires an understanding of technical concepts in the fields of intranet services, web design, database management, and authentication services.
