Job Description

Reports to: Aquatics & Wellness Director; Pool Manager; Pool Manager on Duty

General Function:

The overriding priority of all Lifeguard staff is the safety of the users of the pool. Complete daily checklists and duties assigned by management. Lifeguard role includes but is not limited to supervision of the facility and its patrons to ensure cleanliness, and an excellent experience at The Outing Club. Has the ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations. Job Requirement(s):

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • First Aid Certification

Physical Qualifications:

This position is expected to be able to successfully perform all physical activities necessary to perform essential and related functions of the position including swimming, sitting and observing facility, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking to membership, and highly repetitive motions. Prolonged exposure to elements; including sun, wind, rain. This position is expected to be able to perform essential and related functions of the position which can be described as light-moderate work. May involve heavy lifting; physically and emotionally strenuous work.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure Facility Safety and Cleanliness
  • Has the ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations; possesses critical thinking ability & remains calm under pressure
  • Complete any and all task lists provided by pool management
  • Provide excellent Member Relations
  • Teach and assist with Swim Lessons, Swim Team and all other related member events
  • Ability to address questions from membership about facility and club events
  • Provide Effective Surveillance of facility and patrons of facility
  • Knowledge and ability to perform Injury Prevention techniques
  • Ability to provide Emergency Action Plans and Water Rescue Skills
  • Victim Assessment Prior To Providing Care, Breathing Emergencies, Cardiac Emergencies, Ability to provide coinciding First Aid treatment including caring for head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Approved uniforms must be worn upon arrival of property
