Job Details

  • Perform orthodontics services, including the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related oral structures.
  • Provide treatment for various forms of malocclusion and teeth irregularity.
  • Fit braces, brackets, and other teeth appliances in patients’ mouth to correct teeth positioning.
  • Work with orthodontist assistant to ensure patients receive adequate teeth care
  • Perform dentofacial orthopedics to improve the general appearance of patients.
  • Design and model teeth appliances such as retainers, lingual arch wires, and brackets.
  • Examine patients to determine the nature of the condition affecting the patient, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Clean, fill, extract and replace teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications and surgical implements.
  • Provide preventive dental services and education in oral and dental hygiene.
  • Supervise office staff, including hygienists, dental assistants, receptionists and other office staff.
  • Coordinate laboratory services for the dental office.

Education, Experience and Licensure

  • DDS or DMD degree, licensed in state in which practicing or have the ability to obtain licensure upon graduation.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Completion of a general practice residency (GPR) or advanced education general dentistry residency (AEGD) preferred.
  • American Board of General Dentistry, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, etc. (if applicable)
  • Current DEA Certificate (Drug Enforcement Administration) registered in state in which you are practicing – For South Carolina a CDS Certificate (Controlled Dangerous Substance) is required to obtain a DEA.
  • 2-year orthodontic residency
  • American Board of Orthodontic
