Packaging Process Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop unique packing material lists and packing instructions for furniture, fixtures and other household goods, our customers entrust to Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery to provide safe, secure, damage-free transportation services nationwide.
• Train on-site and remote team members on specialty packing materials and methods.
• Audit team members' compliance with packing material and process instructions.
• Report on issues, successes, and improvements to program.
• Review emails and Metropolitan’s proprietary online order registration and tracking system to develop packing material list and packing process instructions for our customers’ unique items, to ensure the items arrive at the destination in the same condition we picked them up in.
• Develop an efficient and effective packing material (including used boxes, corner guards, feet protectors, Styrofoam, and dunnage) recycling program to use as much clean, good condition recycled material as possible.
• Pack customers’ unique items, using the materials and process instructions developed to ensure safe, claims-free transportation.
• Train and oversee local and remote team members to pack customers’ items using the unique materials and packing instructions developed for each item.
• Develop proper trailer loading techniques to reduce the possibility of damaging these unique items during storage, loading, transit, and unloading.
• Train and oversee local and remote team members to load and unload customers’ unique items providing safe, claims-free handling and transportation.
• Develop and track KPI’s
• Track customer satisfaction, damage and claims due to packaging and loading process and refine the same processes to eliminate these issues.
• Work with team members, including other Metropolitan Packaging Process Specialists to develop and share best practices.
• Must know, use, and follow all Metropolitan safety training, policies, and procedures.
• Must have knowledge of furniture and equipment handling industry accepted procedures.
• Must know and use generally accepted industry practices for packaging processes.

Requirements:
• Furniture and fixtures packing and crating expert
• Knowledge of and ability to perform furniture and fixture trailer loading techniques
• Interpersonal skills
• Leadership skills
• Communication skills- Must be able to communicate with and train other employees and customers with varying skill levels
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
