People Development Specialist

Job Description Summary

The People Development Specialist reports directly to the Chief People Officer and works collaboratively with the Human Resource Manager.  This is a typical 50 hour work week position. Hours are typically 9 am – 7 pm but may be adjusted based on the needs of the company. This position will be located in the Baton Rouge office and requires periodic visits to the Baton Rouge stores and the Baton Rouge community partners. 


The People Development Specialist (PDS) will oversee full life-cycle recruiting. This means they will use their abilities to source, screen, onboard, develop and retain employees for various positions (emphasis on key holders and drivers) within the company. The primary focuses of this position are RECRUITING, TRAINING AND RETAINING quality employees. The PDS is the public face of the company during the recruiting process.  They must ensure positive candidate experiences from the initial application to the final on-boarding process. The PDS must maintain awareness of competitor practices, industry trends and recruitment standards, including new hire orientation duties associated with employee recognition. 

The PDS collaboratively consults with the leadership team and store managers to recommend strategies for identifying and recruiting potential candidates. They help identify key performance factors, develop sourcing pools and establish interviewing criteria. The PDS proactively create applicant pools and talent pipelines by posting job ads through job boards, social media, state employment agencies, professional associations and employee referral programs. They evaluate applications, review resumes, conduct reference checks and complete initial interviews to establish a candidate pool. This position may even conduct final interviews themselves and offer jobs to candidates. They make recommendations to the CEO and the CPO on the top candidates for in-person/zoom interviews. 

A successful People Development Specialist will have the ability to carefully follow processes and procedures in order to multitask and see multiple projects through to completion by the assigned deadline. 

The People Development Specialist is expected to maintain proper security for all employee files and follow privacy and confidentiality procedures regarding the company and its employees at all times. This person must be exceedingly well organized, adaptable and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a company of diverse people and constant change.





										                                PDS



Duties and Responsibilities:

•	RECRUITING 

o	A successful PDS will collaborate with the leadership team and store managers on a regular basis and proactively identify future hiring needs
o	Utilize current company software (PeopleMatter) and other recruiting technologies to organize and facilitate potential employee candidates for recruitment
o	Track and report recruiting statistics to CPO and HR manager during weekly meetings and/or via email
o	Organize and facilitate company job fairs
o	 Submit all supporting documentation in a timely manner by the communicated deadline
o	Provide other functions as needed, including record keeping and file maintenance
o	Ability to recruit, onboard, train and retain employees
o	Screen candidates resumes and job applications
o	Complete onboarding process via PeopleMatter to include i9 processing, employee id, background check, etc.
o	Assess applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills, soft skills, experience and aptitudes
o	Utilize the PeopleMatter Assesment 80% (minimum score) as a guideline for qualifying candidates for an initial interview
o	Hire and recommend candidates that demonstrate a strong integrity and work ethics
o	Hire key holders with strong work experience, integrity and work ethics
o	Adhere to company transportation hiring policies and verify that candidates have their own transportation and valid car insurance for General Manager, Shift Manager and Driver positions 
o	Identify gaps and develop, maintain and monitor initiatives, processes and procedures to address the gaps to ensure ongoing improvement with recruiting processes
o	Recommend to CPO company policies as gaps are identified to ensure ongoing improvement with recruiting processes








								                               	      PDS
•	TRAINING

o	The People Development Specialist position will oversee the Baton Rouge training store and processes
o	The PDS is responsible for the overall success of the Baton Rouge training program to include operations, course development, organization, quality control and retention
o	Implement new product rollouts and order training materials for all locations 
o	Met all training deadlines per Pizza Hut and Franchise standards during yearly 
re-certifications
o	Develop and conduct centralized orientations 
o	Conduct weekly bench planning calls with each Area Coach to promote proactive staffing 
o	Implement and monitior Certification Process for key holders
o	Create training calendar/program for key holders 
o	Review any outstanding complaints and provide WOW customer retention training, as needed 
o	Support and work collaboratively with the Human Resource Manager and Chief People Officer for various training initiatives 
o	Partner with company leaders on key business initiatives; ensuring the teams are well positioned to deliver on priorities and position the company for success. including organization design, talent management, change management and coaching. 
o	Develop procedures & monitoring processes to ensure 100% Learning zone requirements are completed within 30 days of hire.
o	Assess and support new and/or struggling managers
o	Develop and manage the new hire orientation program and assist with preparation for other training programs, as needed 
o	Provide other functions as needed, including record keeping and file maintenance
o	Track and report training statistics to CPO and HR manager during weekly meetings and/or via email
o	Identify gaps and develop, maintain and monitor initiatives, processes and procedures to address the gaps to ensure ongoing improvement with training processes
o	Recommend to CPO company policies as gaps are identified to ensure ongoing improvement with training processes
o	Adhere and enforce all company policy and expectations 







							              				    PDS

•	RETAINING 

o	Develop community recruiting and create employee relationships
o	Develop and maintain an Employee Recognition Program 
o	Identify employees and conduct personal development seminar utilizing Pizza Hut provided materials
o	Provide support to new and/or struggling managers
o	Track and report retention statistics to CPO and HR manager during weekly meetings and/or via email
o	Act as a liason for the HR office and employees by providing answers to employee questions about human resources policies and procedures and refer to the HR office, as needed
o	Identify gaps and develop, maintain and monitor initiatives, processes and procedures to address the gaps to ensure ongoing improvement with retention processes
o	Recommend to CPO company policies as gaps are identified to ensure ongoing improvement with retention processes
