Title: Department Specialist-Small Engine Repair Reports to: General Manager 
Job Grade: 4 Payroll Code: 04 
FLSA Status: Non-exempt (Hourly) 
Direct Reports: None 
General Nature and Purpose of Job: This individual will perform repairs of small engines primarily lawn and garden equipment. Must be able to read illustrated parts and maintenance manuals and be safety conscious.  The ideal applicant has a minimum of one year experience in small engine repair. 
Strive for product knowledge in all areas of the store to enhance customer service. Assist in maintaining clean and orderly merchandise presentation and overall store cleanliness. 
Maintain a proper in-stock level of merchandise. The primary responsibility of all Westlake associates is first and foremost to provide superior customer service! This means our customers always come first, and we make serving them our top priority. 
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities: 
CUSTOMER SERVICE 
• Provide positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware. 
• Proactively assist customers in solving problems. 
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store. 
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates. 
• Ensure all pages and calls are being answered promptly, courteously and effectively. 
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management. 
• Possess good product knowledge as well as knowing store layout and location of products. 

STORE OPERATIONS 
• Provide a positive, professional and safe work environment. 
• Responsible for cycle counting and maintaining desirable inventory level in assigned department(s). 
• Work with management staff to ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed in order to maximize and protect all physical assets (i.e. building, fixtures and equipment). 
• Ensure receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise in assigned department(s). 
• Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels in assigned department(s). 
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area, especially in assigned department(s). 
• Assist with overall maintenance of the store. 
• Ensure that weekly price changes are done is assigned department(s).


• Ensure that monthly cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed in assigned department(s). 
• Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor including end caps and ad merchandise. 
• Assist with merchandise resets throughout store, especially in assigned department(s). 
• Ensure signage is current in assigned department(s). 
• Operate forklift with proper training. 
• Communicate any corporate issue to General Manager for follow up. 
• Participate in store meetings. 
• Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to General Manager. 
• Be professional in appearance and actions. 
• Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Education/ Training: High school or GED equivalent. 
Experience: Small Engine Repair experience preferred, but will train. 
Physical Demands Involved: Standing, walking, lifting and climbing.
