Job Description

Our Client a Global Investment Bank is seeking a Reference Data Business Analyst in their Midtown Manhattan location

Overview: 
The reference data team is looking to hire a business analyst to support analysis of critical reference data requirements from multiple functional areas - Market Risk, Credit Risk, RWA Calcs, US Regulatory Reporting etc. aligned with CUSO Data Strategy program deliverables. Delivery will be focused on changes to existing business processes, controls & governance enhancements, data and infrastructure enhancements in support of overall Data Strategy.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with workstream teams (Business Owners, Change and IT teams etc.) and reference data teams to analyze and understand given business requirements/problem statement for different products in scope (Loans, Bonds, Credit Derivatives, Equities, Repo etc.)
  • Perform analysis to understand changes to existing business processes, data and IT Architecture as well as impact to existing consumers of those reference data elements
  • Work closely with each reference data IT teams and act as an interface between them to influence integrated solution designs with inputs from analysis phase
  • Create Business Requirements document including problem statement, impact analysis and proposed solution etc.
  • Create control requirements document with completeness and accuracy rules to ensure adequate Data Quality and Control checks for each in-scope ref data element
  • Provide inputs to create integrated Front to Back test strategy aligned with agreed solution designs
  • Support UAT testing and clarify queries from business users to validate successful implementation of the business requirements

Key Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of investment banking products/instruments (Cash Securities, Listed Derivatives and OTC Derivatives etc.)
  • Knowledge of various aspects of Counterparty reference data within an investment bank (Client Onboarding, Legal Agreements etc.)
  • Overall understanding of Data Management, Data Governance and Business and Technical Data Architecture
  • Ability to engage multiple teams across different functional areas front-to-back, understand different viewpoints and drive analysis to clear business requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in client/stakeholder relationship management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, specifically the ability to investigate issues with keen attention to detail
  • Experience in understanding and preparing business process docs, Front-to-Back data flows etc.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, economics, finance, accounting or relevant field required
  • 8+ years of relevant business analysis work experience required
  • Business Analysis experience with a leading consulting firm within financial services preferred but not mandatory
