Full-time Electrical and Computer Engineering Instructor

Cornell College invites applications for a continuing instructor position to teach undergraduate level courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with an emphasis on communication systems. We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. We will prefer candidates who have earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline; candidates who are ABD or who have Masters' with significant professional experience will also be seriously considered. Teaching responsibilities include JAVA Programming, Mobile Applications Development, Embedded Systems, and Computer Communication Networks, along with other courses in computer science. Alternative courses could include Signals and Systems, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing, and Multimedia Communication, along with other courses in electrical engineering. This position will support a special partnership between Cornell College and Beihua University, in China. The appointment will begin in fall 2020.

The academic year at Cornell College is divided into eight 4-week-long blocksin which students enroll in a single course (equivalent to a 4-semester-hour course). Courses are capped at 25 students, and upper-level courses usually have fewer. The successful candidate for this position will teach four 4-week-long block classes on the Cornell College campus, and will spend two months at Beihua University each year (usually one in the fall and one in the spring), teaching two 2-week-long, intensive course segments in each of the two months (in English). This position requires excellent spoken English.
