Teaching responsibilities include JAVA Programming, Mobile Applications Development, Embedded Systems, and Computer Communication Networks, along with other courses in computer science. Alternative courses could include Signals and Systems, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing, and Multimedia Communication, along with other courses in electrical engineering. This position will support a special partnership between Cornell College and Beihua University, in China. The appointment will begin in fall 2020.

The academic year at Cornell College is divided into eight 4-week-long blocksin which students enroll in a single course (equivalent to a 4-semester-hour course). Courses are capped at 25 students, and upper-level courses usually have fewer. The successful candidate for this position will teach four 4-week-long block classes on the Cornell College campus, and will spend two months at Beihua University each year (usually one in the fall and one in the spring), teaching two 2-week-long, intensive course segments in each of the two months (in English). This position requires excellent spoken English.

Academic immersion and unparalleled flexibility, thanks to the One Course Calendar, attract an ambitious student body from nearly all 50 US states and territories and many foreign countries. It is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, an urban fringe community recognized by Frommer's as one of "America's Coolest Small Towns" and located in the heart of the ICR Iowa region.

Cornell College is committed to fostering a faculty and staff community that reflects its diverse student body. We encourage applications from candidates who share our vision for a campus that embraces differing backgrounds, viewpoints, and identities. We believe in the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion that serve to enrich and strengthen our campus community.

All qualified and interested applicants must submit a cover letter, vita, statement of teaching philosophy, and undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable; official transcripts are needed prior to employment) and a list of references through Cornell's online application system.

Applications will be reviewed as received and continue until the position is filled.
