Job Description

Summary Works as member of crew to raise, place, and unite beams, columns, and other structural steel members to form completed structures or structure frameworks in a safe and consistent manner by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

a.        Has practical knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CSE, Inc. Rules and Regulations and Site-Specific Rules and Regulations.

b.       Understands OSHA standards relating to Steel Erection; understands and complies with CSE, Inc. Safety Program, rules, regulations and updates.

c.        Works within AISC Certification Procedures.

d.       Trained to safely operate forklifts, JLG type man-lifts, scissor-lifts and similar equipment.

e.        Observes 100% of tie-offs.

f.        Leads and controls skilled labor and work crews engaged in all activities concerned with structural steel erection and miscellaneous metals installation.

g.       Optimizes resources to ensure efficient and timely completion of work.

h.       Keeps records of all work completed; documents and records time, equipment, and materials used in production of project scope of work, for outside the scope of work

i.         Proceeds only after written authorization is received, or is notified to provide by Project Manager.

j.         Obtains customer signatures on documents.

k.       Documents employee absenteeism, policy violations and performance/behavior warnings on appropriate forms. Notifies HR immediately of same.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees field employees engaged in steel erection and ironworking activities.

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma preferred

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and follow project documents including: specifications, drawings, project plans, lift plans, procedures, and memos. Able to give instructions efficiently and effively to workforce. Communicates with Project Managers to ensure the optimum outcome.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.                                         

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license.

 

Other Qualifications Must be able to travel.
