Technical Sales Specialist – Cell Culture Supplements

How will you make an impact:
Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) for Cell Culture Supplements is a role within the sales organization of the BioProduction Division having the responsibility for sales across a specific portfolio of products in an assigned territory. This role will actively manage opportunities for Serum, Peptones and other Cell Culture Supplements as defined in conjunction with the Bioproduction Account Managers. This role will actively build long-term partnerships and agreements with both Biopharma and Biotech accounts in the defined territory. The BD and TSS for Cell Culture Supplements will actively educate customers on the external factors affective supply and demand of some of the key supplements as well as develop strategic relationships with customers to adopt a serum reduction and replacement program as necessary. This position is based remotely, can be east coast or west coast based.

What will you do:

  • Develops and manages the customer demand for Serum products and liaises closely with Product Management and Supply Chain to ensure future demand of the products can be met.
  • Negotiates and closes large deals for Serum whilst managing price in line with divisional recommendations.
  • Negotiates long-term agreements for Serum in order to secure supply for key partners and to create long-term visibility within our organization.
  • Develops and executes a regional strategy for serum reduction and replacement with key customers and partners.
  • Educates customers on the complexities of the Serum market and the factors affecting supply and demand in order to create a partnership with key customers requiring serum or other supplements.
  • Responsible for growing the Peptone supplement business within a defined territory through individual activities and acting as a technical specialist to the Bioproduction Account Managers
  • Stays ahead of market conditions by liaising directly with operations sites in NZ, AUS and USA as well as Product Management.
  • Provides competitive intelligence on pricing and capabilities back to Product Management.
  • Assists all BAMs within assigned territory with sales and account planning efforts to achieve Serum and Supplement Sales Goals.
  • Consults with BAM on obtaining customer forecasts for new and existing base business
  • Maintains and enhances technical knowledge on assigned product lines, company literature, and competitive products
  • Keeps abreast of competitive products and supports BAMs to counter customer objectives or preferences for competitor products
  • Feeds voice of customer to the Business Unit
How will you get there:
  • Bachelor's degree in a life-science related field required, such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Engineering
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, savvy using all Microsoft products
  • Ability to interface effectively at all levels of an organization
  • Shows sound judgment, tact and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information with sensitivity
  • Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and perform as a team player
Experience:
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of sales experience working in a role related to the bioproduction process
  • Must possess strong understanding of customer challenges and solution development
  • Must demonstrate previous success in a customer-facing role
  • Previous experience working with distributor partners is desirable
Travel and Location:
  • This position is field-based, with a remote home office location convenient to reach all customers within assigned sales territory
  • Expectation of spending 3-4 workdays in the field.
