About this job

In this highly selective program, you will give be given the opportunity to learn about Wegmans while honing your skills, and working with talented Executive Chefs in our innovative, vibrant, high volume food stores. You will grow personally and professionally by following our core training to develop expert culinary techniques while providing a one-of-a-kind culinary shopping experience for our customers.

What Will I do?

  • Attend weekly meetings with your Chef mentor to review previous weeks learnings
  • Gain exposure to reporting metrics
  • Perform department rotations throughout the store including Cheese, Produce, Seafood, Meat, Pizza, Sub Shop, Bakery, Prepared Foods, Asian Bar and Sushi to gain an overview of each department and position within the departments while producing high quality foods and providing incredible customer service
  • Complete a variety of training seminars including; Food Safety, Staying Safe on the Job, Allergen Awareness, Diversity Awareness, Incredible Customer Service, Simplification, and Knowledge Based Service

Qualifications:

  • A college student working towards a degree in the Culinary Arts field
  • Knowledge of basic culinary techniques including knife skills and cooking techniques

Please note that Extern positions are available for Johnson & Wales or Culinary Institute of America students in multiple stores/restaurants throughout our various market areas which include New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and New England.
