  • Job Summary
    • Collects blood from donors, checks quality of blood, and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort ofdonors, following established standards and practices. Performs capillary and venous blood collections onpatients. Processes and accessions clinical specimens and performs computer data entry and retrieval, resultreporting, faxing, and mailing of reports according to department standards.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education/Training
      • High school graduation or equivalent; phlebotomy course preferred.
    •  
    • Experience
      • 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.
    •  
    • License/Certification/Registration
      • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
    •  
    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
      • Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
    • Assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
    • Draws blood from the patient and prepares samples according to procedure.
    • Labels and records test tubes, logs procedures in a log book, and schedules procedures as necessary.
    • Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and coworkers.
    • Maintains established department goals, objectives, policies and procedures, quality and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
    • Maintains required records, reports, statistics, and files as directed.
    • Maintains test tray and working area in a sanitary condition.
    • Participates or assists in training new associates.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
