Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Registered Nurse, Mental Health with Corizon Health at Western Reception Diagnostic located in St. Joseph, Missouri:
- Assist in ensuring 24-hour coverage of nursing services in the Mental Health Unit and appropriate provision of clinical treatment.
- Coordinate Mental Health Unit sick call to ensure nurse triage and appropriate referral for physician follow-up.
- Clinical duties:
- Implement Psychiatric and physician orders in a timely and clinically effective manner.
- Administer and monitor medications in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Mental Health Unit.
- Conduct initial Nursing Assessment for inmates admitted to the Mental Health Unit, upon admission to the unit or as soon as inmate's condition permits.
- Document changes in inmate's functionality and critical incidents in the inmate’s Medical Record.
- Complete Discharge Summary when inmate is transferred from Mental Health Unit.
- Assist in coordinating psychiatric services to ensure psychiatrist is informed of psychotropic medication compliance, changes in inmate functionality and the results of laboratory testing in a timely manner.
- Provide group counseling and activities for inmates.
- Ensure Medication Administration Records (MARS) are maintained and updated.
- Monitor medical supplies to facilitate appropriate inventory and ordering.

- Registered Nurse licensed within state of employment, license must be in good standing.
- Experience in providing services to a mentally ill and/or correctional population preferred.
- Must follow all applicable technical instructions and health services bulletins.
- CPR certification.
A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
