Responsible for the sales, service and retention of SME customers with revenue of $3MM - $25MM. Incumbents are responsible for new business development, portfolio management, credit quality and overall relationship management of an assigned portfolio of Business Banking’s most complex customers. Acts as team lead on complex accounts and may provide guidance to less experienced Relationship Managers in the management and development customer relationships.
Responsibilities
Focus on servicing, growing and retaining most complex relationships in business banking with an expertise in traditional underwriting and managing more complex credits
Performs business development activities to generate new banking relationships with companies that have revenues of $3MM - $25MM
Manages a smaller portfolio of Business Banking’s most profitable customers to meet all customer needs and provide continued guidance to grow relationship and provide an exceptional customer experience
Monitors credit quality of credits within assigned portfolios with ability to renegotiate terms in loan docs and perform covenant modifications.
Identifies evaluates, structures and documents credit transactions to ensure maximum profitability with reasonable risk for all Business banking credits
Participates in joint calls with business partners to develop customer relationships and support specific product sales across business lines.
Represents business banking in civic and community functions to further enhance Santander's image and develop expanded business.
Works with internal and external auditors and corporate compliance to ensure conformity with bank policies and procedures and federal and state regulations.
Act as market lead on complex credit deals and work with BBRMs on how to structure, work with credit team, and book larger/more complex credit deals
Participates in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree; in business, finance, economics, or equivalent field
- Master's Degree; in business, finance, economics, or equivalent field or equivalent work experiencepreferred.
- 9-12 years in a Business Banking Relationship Manager role and/or related business lending experience
Identify specific knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory execution of the position’s primary duties& responsibilities.
(i.e. If a position duty/responsibility is to “market and sell products and services to customers”, then the specialized knowledge would be “skilled in building relationships with customers and in selling”.)
Advanced presentation skills with proven ability to discuss and negotiate banking terms with senior leadership (CEO, CFO, etc) of companies up to $25MM in annual revenue
Ability to provide thought leadership for large credit deals and have candid conversations with senior credit partners on the risks of the deal
Clear understanding of risk ratings
Credit seriousness and urgency when existing deals begin to go bad, with the ability to renegotiate loan docs and modify covenants to protect the bank and clients interest
Advanced understanding and ability to assess client profile characteristics and link to; credit quality, risk rating and deal structure
Duties are performed in an office environment.Physical demands could involve any or all of the following: digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in the operation of office equipment; light to moderate lifting (10-20 lbs.) and carrying of supplies, files, etc; the ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees both telephone calling and in person; and body motor skills sufficient to enable the incumbent to move from one office location to another.
