The Server-Guest interaction is the single most important representation of Urban Food Group’s philosophy of Excellence in Hospitality in the restaurant. For that reason, UFG Servers have high expectations placed upon them, and are hired because of their potential, and trained to provide outstanding service.
In addition to the requirements listed in the UFG General Job Description and Requirements section, UFG Servers are expected to maintain the requirements listed in the Back Waits and Food Runners portion, and Hosts portion of Job Descriptions-
As well as having the following abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Ability to memorize- and be able to accurately describe- all menu items thoroughly
- Ability to memorize daily features
- Ability to maintain a working knowledge of ‘86’ lists
- Ability to maintain a thorough knowledge of the wine list and cocktail menu
- Ability to open and properly pour wine to UFG Standards
- Ability to ensure proper and safe service of alcohol within company and legal guidelines
- Ability to accurately judge whether or not a guest is under the age of 30, and if so, ask for proper proof of Identification before serving alcohol to said guest
- Ability to frequently lift and carry trays, and proficiently assure delivery of items placed on trays
- Ability to multi-task, handling multiple tables of guests at one time
- Ability to ‘read’ their guests, and accurately anticipate their wants or needs
- Ability to deal with high pressure situations in a busy environment
- Ability to accurately learn and use a Point of Sale ordering system
- Ability to complete all sidework tasks assigned the position
- Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations
- Ability to efficiently and accurately maintain order within your assigned section
- Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat demeanor, even when dealing with upset guests
- Ability to count cash, keep receipts, and maintain an accurate ‘bank’ throughout the shift
- Ability to turn in an accurate Reconciliation of Transactions following a shift
and most importantly:
UFG Servers Must be able to Record, Input, and Deliver Accurately all Guest Orders
