Summary:

Plays a major role in the area of Reimbursement for the Hospital.

Responsibilities:

1. Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports preparation and all associated schedules.

2. Settlement reviews and Government Audit coordination.

3. Coordination and completion of the Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education Payment Program (CHGME PP) applications. Contractual adjustment modeling, testing and calculation.

4. General Accounting functions to include Month-End journal entry preparation, reserve analysis, account reconciliation and year-end report preparation.

5. Community Benefit tracking, calculation and analysis along with preparation of the IRS 990H.

6. Meaningful Use attestation to ODJFS.

7. Other government reporting including Out of State Medicaid; BCMH, Tricare, etc..

8. Works with Information Services and Decision Support to develop, create and improve reporting necessary to complete above functions.

9. Interact with internal departments and external agencies including attending meetings to insure that the above functions are completed timely and accurately.


Technical Expertise
1. Must be exposed to ongoing training in the area of reimbursement.

2. Requires significant PC spreadsheet and financial software application skills, including all of the Microsoft Office products.


Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.

2. Understanding of cost reporting principles as well as Ohio Medicaid reimbursement methodologies required.

3. Must acquire knowledge of patient accounting principles and the Hospital’s patient accounting system.

4. Acquire a thorough understanding of the Medicare regulations related to accounting for residents and interns, as correct accounting for resident and intern FTE’s drives CHGME PP payments to the Hospital.
