Job Description

Summary:The Area Project Engineer will oversee all Engineering functions for the Projects assigned in their respective area. This role is part of the Operational Support Team and will report to the Corporate Project Engineer. Guided by the objectives of Senior Management and the Corporate Project Engineer, the Area PE provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure the engineering functions within their designated area has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and systems in place to effectively manage the projects within the area. The core of this role is to provide guidance, leadership and mentoring to the Project Engineering Staffs in their area. The Area PE will collaborate with local Project Directors/Manager and play an instrumental role in new project start ups in their respective area.

Responsibilities:Including but not limited to:
Coaching and mentoring engineers and project teams on Lanes best practices and team building.
Work closely with the Corporate Project Engineer to develop and implement processes and procedures that will improve our engineering efforts.
Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all engineering processes; Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the engineering condition of each project in their area.
Assist the Corporate Project Engineer to maintain an up-to-date Project Review process; Attend all Project Reviews for projects they are responsible for.
When engineering deficiencies are identified, work with the engineering staff to remedy those deficiencies.
Assist the Corporate Project Engineer to maintain an up-to-date Engineering Training and Development program.
Organize and lead Quarterly Engineering Training meetings for your area. Ensure courses are made available based on the demand of the engineers in their area.
Interact regularly with Engineers; Keep up to date with key issues affecting the performance of project engineering staffs; Visit projects at a minimum of once per month, but as much as necessary; Attend meetings on the project when possible, such as staff and owner meetings.
Assist the Corporate Project Engineer with Project Start Up process for new projects in their area; Help ensure all topics are adequately rolled out; Conduct or schedule follow up training if necessary.
Work with the project engineering staff to ensure PMFM requirements are being metwith an emphasis on Chapter 20 Engineering; Ensure adequate Quantity Tracking and Reporting methods are maintained; Ensure all processes are in place to ensure accurate coding of costs, reporting of quantities and prompt owner payments.
Carry out job duties while maintaining Lane values.
And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from a four-year university or equivalent experience is required.
Additional education is preferred.
BS in Engineering, Construction Management preferred
Management experience is preferred.
