BASIC PURPOSE:

This position directs operational activities to continuously improve performance for the entire facility. The position is responsible for financial, productivity, quality, human relations, safety, health and environmental performance measures. This position ensures sufficient resources to sustain facility operations.  The Terminal Manager is not only responsible for the management of the terminal but also working alongside the operator(s) daily to ensure productivity of the facility.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs duties consistent with company and regulatory mandates pertaining to working conditions and EH&S requirements.
  • Ensure facility activities meet and/or exceed both company and regulatory compliance requirements. 
  • Maintains and operates the facility in a cost effective manner in accordance with planned sales and operating budget.   
  • Develops and implements operational policies and procedures that support on-going business practices. 
  • Develops and implements improvements that affect facility performance, reliability and operating cost.
  • Oversee and maintain process Safety/Risk Management plans for the facility.
  • Develops long-term capital projects to improve facility infrastructure and systems. 
  • Recruits and retains sufficient personal to sustain operational viability. 
  • Coordinates with procurement and logistics on inbound and outbound shipments. 
  • Ensure facility sustains “Good Neighbor” relationships with local community and agencies. 
  • Provides support to other departments within company and customers as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises operations and office employees, personally or through subordinate supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; Planning, Assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MANAGEMENT/LEADERSHIP:

Organizes, Schedules, and delegates work assignments; Understands business implications of decisions and strives to increase productivity and efficiency; Displays orientation to profitability and works within approved budget; Follows company policies and safety and security procedures; Uses discretion and independent judgement; Supports organization’s goals and values; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.

EDUCTION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education/Experience
    • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school or three-five years related experience and/or training in operations management, product care and storage, regulatory compliance; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
    • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, general business periodicals, technical procedures, or Governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a variety of settings.
    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts and calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, percentages, ratios, volume, etc.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
    • Computer Skills: Basic computer software understanding for accurate data entry and reporting; Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES:

A valid driver’s license is required; driving record must meet company/insurance guidelines.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have sound and effective skills in verbal and written communication, Leadership, operations management, Maintenance management, finance, and regulatory. Position requires strong organization, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime and on-call shifts as dictated by business needs. Position requires the ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.

Must be willing to work outside in inclement weather.  Ability to work outdoors, indoors, and periodically in dusty environments. Must have the ability to operate a forklift. This position requires a normal range of hearing and vision (color, acuity, distance, and depth).    Must comply with OSHA guidelines and company policy regarding personal protective equipment.  Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and work in elevated areas of the terminal with or without accommodation.  Willingness to support all Health, Safety,

Security and Environmental policies, procedures and programs including random drug and alcohol testing.  Must reside within 60 minutes of the facility, or be willing to relocate without assistance.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the terminal.
