Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Group Issues Management team (GIM) is a newly created team within the Corporate Risk Control Executive organization. The GIM team is responsible for ensuring quality and timeliness of all Corporate Risk issues data that is managed in the SHRP module in partnership with issues owners; providing analytics and reporting for issues through their lifecycle; and ensuring compliance with policy.

Business Risk and Controls Senior Manager – GIM Data Operations

The GIM Operations Leader will work horizontally across all teams in Corporate Risk, the Corporate Risk Control group, GIM team and Wells Fargo Audit Services (WFAS). The primary responsibilities will be to lead GIM Data Operations at the Corporate Risk Business Control level, which includes but is not limited to issue life cycle management, adherence to issues management policy, issue owner interaction models and process management and improvement. This Leader will report to the Head of Group Issues.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Group Issues Management and Escalations leader in developing, maintaining, evaluating and delivering the strategic plans for the group and ensuring that business as usual operations are established and sound.
  • Assist and lead special projects that are assigned to the Corporate Risk Group Issues and Escalations team.
  • Lead efforts that stem from the Corporate Risk Issues Management and Escalation team by defining, prioritizing, partnering with other GIM teams and needed partners to successfully implement and deliver intended results.
  • Create and maintain the Corporate Risk Issues Management and Escalation team’s roadmap, pipeline and prioritization process.
  • Assist in the facilitation, management and follow through of the facilitation of the intra and extra team forums
  • Define the communication strategy and interaction models between the business (issue owners), the Corporate Risk Issue Management and Escalation Team, Independent Risk Management, and other oversight functions

  • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
  • Accomplish management responsibilities, which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management
  • 3+ years of management experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Knowledge and understanding of data management concepts, process, tools, and environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) such as reporting and issue management
  • Project management experience
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Strong data management program experience
  • Experience with issue life cycle management, adherence to issues management policy and issue owner interaction models.
  • Strong process management and improvement experience.
  • Previous experience standing up a new organization in an enterprise environment
  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to ascertain what is needed to be done and deliver results
  • Understanding of lines of defense in Risk
  • Risk experience in the financial services industry


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
