Assistant Manager Position Overview: The purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to support the Store Manager in ensuring the store location follows company policies and procedures. It is vital that every customer that visits the store location, leaves with a smile. The goal of the Assistant Store Manager is to build the store location by increasing car count by providing quality, quick service and encouraging fleet accounts. Taking care of the customer is the Assistant Store Manager’s number one priority.

Job Responsibilities of an Assistant Manager:

Team training: The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the development of all employees through testing and training. It is also important that the Assistant Store Manager develops proper communication with Store Manager and Area Trainer/s for problem solving. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in qualifying all members on the team to perform all functions as outlined in the Lube Technician Job Description.

Inspection: The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in inspecting the premises at frequent intervals to insure the following: equipment is in good working order, facility appearance, inventory properly stocked and landscaping well-maintained.

Directing the team's activities: The Assistant Store Manager helps to prepare the work schedule, assigns work positions, conducts opening and closing procedures, directs cleaning, landscaping, maintenance and overall upkeep and supervises the team in all activities involved with operating the business.

  • Basic computer skills. Ability to use a keyboard and a mouse to correctly collect and enter information into a point of sale system.

  • Where applicable: Ability to obtain a state issued inspector’s license is preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to:
    • Stand on concrete and/or metal surfaces for extended periods of time.
    • Bend or stand on your feet the majority of the shift.
    • Work any day of the week including Sundays and holidays.
    • Work in an environment that frequently experiences extreme hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, and exhaust fumes.
    • Read body language, the mood of the customer, and the knowledge level of the customer to approach each person individually to provide them a unique and exceptional experience.
    • Empathize with coworkers and customers.
    • Work under pressure and at a fast pace.
    • Manage stress.
    • Present yourself in a polite and courteous manner.
    • Promote and contribute to a friendly, fun work environment.
    • Lift a 6-pound container filled with oil and pour its contents into a funnel without spilling the oil.
    • Lift and move inventory items, trash cans and other work-related items (up to 50 pounds).
    • “Move with a purpose” and work at an effective rapid pace for long periods of time.
    • Push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the shift.
    • Lower body into an opening in the floor and then fully articulate arms, legs, and body while crouched down and/or sitting in a “shallow” pit that is 3’ deep and 10’ long.
    • Handle feedback given from Assistant Managers, Managers, trainers, and leadership.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete and/or metal surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Work in an environment that frequently experiences extreme hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, and exhaust fumes.
  • Lift and move inventory items, trash cans and other work-related items (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the shift.
