Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Our Forklift Drivers Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Pre-inspecting and safely operating a forklift.
- Inspecting and maintaining a safe work environment including acknowledgement and safety around pedestrian traffic.
- Stacking and ensure accurate counts against pallet tags.
- Responsible for pre-inspecting and safely operating a standard forklift or forklift with slip-sheet attachment.
- Inspect equipment to be loaded to ensure safety while loading, which includes chalking wheels and placing jack stands if trailer is not attached to tractor / truck.
- Load finished goods in trailers, containers, bobtail trucks, boxcars, and flatbeds ensuring the customer receives timely, accurate and damage-free product.
- Responsible for accurately pre-staging mixed loads of various products.
- Ensure product freshness by using a FIFO system when loading and cut in product as necessary.
- Unload incoming delivery trucks.
- Drive the yard tractor to back in empty trailers and pull out loaded trailers.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory: A) Perform cycle counts; B) Perform physical inventory; C) Accurately fill out paperwork and partial tags.
- Stack finished goods pallets accurately and in an organized manner.
