Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.

The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Team Member will provide oversight and challenge to first line compliance activities and will execute certain activities that comprise the Asset Management risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with significant regulatory requirements (i.e., SEC, CFTC, etc.) as well as corporate policies. 

The Team Member will assist the Compliance manager in designing and developing compliance process, control activities, methodologies, compliance monitoring activities, and will consult with senior compliance and business management on compliance policies, procedures, and controls for the respective business/functional area. 

The Team Member will also ensure identified compliance issues are escalated, addressed and validated in accordance with corporate Policies.  The team member will participate in compliance projects, as needed, including working with compliance and business management to facilitate the distribution and dispositioning of Major Compliance Requirements, and conducting targeted compliance reviews and projects.

 Specific Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain an understanding of WFAM’s business operations and regulatory guidance/expectations.
• Work effectively with Compliance and business line subject matter experts to implement and maintain (Wells Capital Management’s) compliance program activities
• Assist with Form ADV filing, working with the Business to obtain and review information as required by the SEC
• Communicate, escalate, address and validate issues identified during compliance program reviews and conduct compliance monitoring activities
• Partner with Business and support functions within WFAM to enhance and develop compliance controls
• Assist in the issues management process, working with Compliance manager and colleagues and Business partners
• Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of present and future policies, procedures, processes. Consults with the business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change to ensure regulatory compliance with communication requirements. Will contribute to policy and procedure development and updates as necessary.
• Exercise effective communication and promote positive relationships with business line team members and management.
• Ensure that effective controls are in place to meet federal laws and regulations and provide training, advice and education on how to comply with regulatory requirements and to monitor such compliance;
• Perform other duties as assigned



Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both
  • 1+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret client investment agreements, legal documents, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. SEC, ERISA, Investment Company Act, other federal laws, UCITS, and foreign regulatory laws);
  • Ability to understand processes end to end and make value-added recommendations to improve design and control structure;
  • Demonstrates strategic/business consulting experience;
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to be successful in a working environment that requires flexibility and independence with ambiguous situations and constant change to achieve desired outcome/objectives;
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate complex programs and initiatives and provide credible challenge to opportunities and concerns;
  • Demonstrates experience with issue resolution including root cause analysis, mitigation plans and remediation activities;
  • Pragmatic problem-solver, forward thinker.
  • Asset Management experience
