APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

Take the lead in the design and support development and sales of highly specialized systems used for noise attenuation and systems for the separation and filtration of contaminants from gases.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports the achievement of engineering and sales objectives through:

o An in-depth knowledge of the Company’s product, design engineering, and service capabilities, as well as manufacturing and quality standards, so as to consistently establish and develop customer accounts.

o Comprehensive understanding of the customer base and those customers’ requirements.

o Giving effective presentations of , “value added” benefits to its customers regarding our design, engineering, manufacturing and service capabilities.

o An active and thoughtful communication pattern with customers, balancing/prioritizing time versus benefit such that these efforts reflect an anticipated return.

o Responds proactively to customer requests or concerns in a manner that builds trust and confidence not only with the customer but colleagues within this organization who are partners in the problem solving process.

 

  • Assesses customer requests (inquiries, drawings, specifications, etc.

    ) and determines customer needs; performs appropriate research and analysis; proposes product and/or system solutions based upon Aarding and Peerless’ current product line and/or custom design engineering capabilities; coordinates efforts with manager to deliver appropriate sales proposal (to include pricing, terms and conditions).

  • Reviews datasheets, design drawings, evaluates for accuracy based upon customer needs/expectations, makes changes and/or recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains current account/customer information (to include pricing) ensuring that all company databases are current.

    ) in a timely, accurate manner; keeps management informed of accomplishments, problems, new opportunities, etc.

  • Aggressively supports the Company’s overall engineering and sales efforts including joint meetings with other business groups and customers as requested.

 

Other Functions:

  • Maintains active contact with other departments, which is positive and supportive of that group’s planning and budget objectives; ensures communication with customers and/or other team members is conducted in a manner that builds trust and leads to efficient and effective problem resolution.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all information concerning the Company’s operational practices, marketing, engineering, pricing and sales strategies, as well as customer and prospect lists.

    The list of items to be considered confidential also includes, but is not limited to, information related to the financial operations and performance of the company.

  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the Company/OSHA; pursues safety initiatives in support of the Company’s vision of “zero accidents”; maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment.
  • Allocates time efficiently and effectively keeping track of critical information, schedules and deadlines.
  • Ensures daily/weekly/monthly reporting, as well as any other general correspondence, is communicated accurately, concisely, and in a form appropriate to the target audience.
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures as well as additional legal regulatory requirements.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting datasheets P&ID’s, PFD’s and GA drawings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical components and fluid dynamics.
  • Demonstrated success in the achievement of customer service objectives.
  • Demonstrated typing and computer proficiency in all business related software packages (i.

    e.

    , MS Word, MS Excel and ERP systems),

  • Education: B.

    S.

    Degree (engineering) preferred; 4 year degree required
