Kelly Services is currently seeking a Buyer for one of our top automotive clients in Dearborn, MI.

This is a long term contract position through Kelly Services.

Position Description:

Responsibility for this position includes but is not limited to:

  • Lead for commodity knowledge and market intelligence including cost, bill of process, etc.
  • Lead activities to deliver Best Cost at Job#1
  • Lead cross-functional interface (primarily with Design Studio, PD, Cost Estimating)
  • Lead operational activities to support program timing and cost recovery - PO/TO’s, tooling audits, PRIS reminders, etc.
  • Lead Capacity Study management including cost negotiation
  • Participate in Launch Readiness reviews to ensure supplier prepared for launch
  • Lead CPA to J#1 cost true-up – including DT2 cost confirmation and Raw Material link establishment
  • Support and co-drive w/STA all supplier Q1 and quality objectives
  • Lead the development and deployment of constraint mitigation actions to protect assembly plant production as a result of supplier constraints or catastrophic losses

 

Skills Required:

Candidates for this position should have/be highly competent in the following areas:

  • Strong analytical skills (sourcing evaluations, business case studies)
  • Strong negotiation skills (creating leverage in both offensive and defensive situations)
  • Cost analytics (understand commodity cost drivers, part cost breakdowns, Gap-to-OCE)
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Working knowledge of Purchasing policies, procedures, and systems
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work in teams

 

Experience Required:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience

 

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (Bachelor's degree required: (Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering)
  • Other Degree acceptable if 3-5 years equivalent job experience
