SUMMARY

The IT Health Informatics department acquires, cultivates, and provisions data for our company.

The data provisioning team is charged with responding to all incoming requests for data, developing reports and data extracts, and maintaining reporting best practices for the organization.

The EMR Reporting Team Supervisor is responsible for management of the EMR Reporting team and enterprise reporting requests.

  The incumbent will support project-related and operational reporting with primary emphasis on healthcare, financial, and administrative information in an electronic medical record system.

Duties also include releasing and maintaining EMR tools related to reporting and analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual in this position will oversee the analysis, design, test, implementation, support and maintenance of EHR reports in multiple complex production and non-production Epic and SAP Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) systems.

The incumbent will be responsible for enterprise-wide support for Epic Clarity, Workbench and Radar Dashboard reporting as well as other important non-Epic related data sources.

This position utilizes broad knowledge of operational processes, project management and reporting tools such as large, clustered Business Objects deployments utilizing Windows Active Directory security.

Work in a team-oriented environment interacting frequently other managers and IT leadership.

Additionally, will supervise all levels of report writers and administrative staff.

The position requires a high degree of expert judgement and independence to proactively identify needs, required resources, develop strategies and propose/implement technical, operational, and process solutions.

Incumbent will manage development and maintenance of clinical, financial and operational reports and dashboards of high complexity.

The incumbent will lead large, complex IT projects.

  • Plan and manage the implementation, testing, upgrading, maintenance and ongoing support of production Enterprise EHR Reports created in Business Objects, the EMR, and other BI tools such as Tableau.
  • Triage incoming report requests and determine the level of effort required to satisfy the requirements
  • Manage the queue of incoming report requests for the EMR reporting team
  • Find opportunities to leverage and participate in the implementation of self-service reporting tools
  • Ensure that all reporting products and services meet minimum organization standards including IRB and Compliance standards
  • Document reporting best practices and provide training to report developers
  • Manage the maintenance of the report catalog and develop standards for the use of this tool
  • Participate in all EMR change management meetings and ensure that all planned changes are assessed for reporting impacts
  • Manage the EMR quarterly upgrades for all reporting related changes
  • Attend all EMR quarterly update meetings, EMR project meetings, and other EMR related meetings serving as the owner and primary point of contact for the EMR reporting modules
  • Design, architect and implement re-usable solutions for complex reporting issues and needs
  • Ensure standard use of a code repository and proper change management procedures for checking in code and sharing code amongst developers
  • Effectively utilize vendor resources (SAP, Epic, contract programmers/analyst, etc.

    ) and ensure deployments and support approaches comply with recommended best practices

  • Monitor the peer review and quality assurance procedures
  • Document, implement, and support maintenance and monitoring processes for ensuring business continuity and early identification of potential issues
  • Formalize all reporting processes and procedures for onboarding and cross training and share these documents in the knowledgebase
  • Implement processes and procedures to set and deliver quality standards
  • Recommend and implement optimization changes to improve report and query performance
  • Create and maintain processes and procedures to archive reporting content
  • Participate in the planning and execution of testing activities
  • Facilitate and assist in the analysis, design and documentation of new or modified reporting solutions
  • Work outside normal business hours to resolve critical production issues and meet project deadlines; cell phone required
  • Identify security risks, recommend solutions and implement changes to mitigate them
  • Conduct analysis and assess the potential impact of software upgrades on the reporting system
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Enterprise EHR Reporting Team
  • Promote the principles of reuse and efficiency by creating and following processes and procedures and training team members
  • Define, prioritize and delegate work to report developers and monitor progress
  • Conduct weekly sprint meetings with reporting team
  • Develop metrics, team systems, and processes for continuous improvement
  • Consistently demonstrate the values of the organization and the IT Health Informatics department
  • Motivate, recognize and reward employees

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum three years supervisory or management of technical staff
  • Minimum two years project management experience (report related projects preferred)
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations of BI tools such as Business Objects Enterprise, Tableau, or SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Strong knowledge of SQL skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task within a dynamic workplace
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to deliver high quality results with aggressive timelines
  • Experience creating project plans and managing technical projects
  • Experience incorporating industry and vendor best practices in implementations
  • Strong knowledge of business intelligence architecture, components, and concepts
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and implementing complex Business Objects Bl solutions
  • Experience engaging stakeholders and creating meeting artifacts as well as requirements
  • Highly effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical people
  • Skilled in presentation, facilitation, questioning, mentoring, and requirements gathering
  • Good creative thinking, problem solving, planning, project and time-management and organization skills to effectively manage and prioritize work
  • Experience with MS Office, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio
  • Capable of driving the completion of various deliverables across multiple teams
  • Experience providing end user and technical support for business intelligence/analytical reporting systems
  • Experience gathering, defining, and analyzing business reporting requirements from non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience designing reporting solutions
  • Able to manage technical design and delivery in all phases from beginning through to project completion

Preferred

  • Understanding of enterprise analytics and dashboard solutions
  • Experience with the Epic EMR reporting tools such as Radar, Reporting Workbench, Cubes and Universes
  • Experience with healthcare data and reporting, especially Epic-related
  • Will require Epic Training Certification to be completed within 3 months of onboarding
