Location/Division Specific Information

The Supervisor or Electrolytic Consumable Production is a key leader in the Operations department at the Sunnyvale, California site. The department is part of the Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation business unit, but supports several other business units within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry division.

How will you make an impact?

The Supervisor, Electrolytic Consumables Production has responsibility for providing direct line support for manufacturing electrochemical consumables and reagents. This function also facilitates the transfer of new formulations and products from the R&D group to routine manufacturing and is responsible for ensuring robust and reliable processes, formulations and analytical methods are being followed. The Operations department works closely with regulatory affairs, quality assurance, other manufacturing plants and engineering to develop and implement strategies for improving existing and new products and processes.

What will you do?

  • Lead, train and develop the Manufacturing team. Define and establish clear objectives and expectations, provide direct feedback routinely for performance management.
  • Be a visionary of process change and documentation of processes and workflows to achieve operational excellence - guide others toward that vision.
  • Drive and lead teams in continuous improvement efforts- identify and addressing root cause situations, and build systems to prevent and correct issues.
  • Participate as a core team, or extended team, member for new product introduction.
  • Contributes to new product introduction documentation, ensuring that operations concerns are addressed.
  • Manage key performance indicators for projects in area of responsibility that drive change and visibility to the team and leadership. Track, trend, and monitor routinely with active data analysis rigor performed to drive the continuous improvement culture.
  • Effectively use prioritization mechanisms to utilize resources to complete the work on-hand and/or escalate issues to leadership so that resource needs can be addressed.
  • Ensure safety is a top priority with active measures in place to drive a safe culture.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field from four-year institution or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of chemical or device manufacturing experience with minimum of 2 years’ experience leading / mentoring teams through projects and/or against established performance goals

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to coach & mentor people and effectively work, influence, and negotiate
  • Strong team building skills and the proven ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Proven ability to track status and adjust resources in order to meet the needs of a multi-product manufacturing team.
  • Driven and self-motivated; Calculated risk taker with a high bias for action that achieves results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organizational objectives.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP system, preferably SAP and Oracle; Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
  • Customer focus when organizing and managing the execution of deliverables.
  • Experience with driving change management with demonstrated ability to influence.
