Summary:

Die Cast or Trim Operators are required to set-up, operate, make adjustments to die cast machines, and support each other in the production of die cast parts ranging in weight from several ounces to over 30 pounds.

Port City Group, a division of Pace Industries, is located in Muskegon, Michigan. We are a multi-location, fully integrated manufacturer of aluminum die castings, zinc die castings, mechanical assemblies and injected molded plastics. Our facilities include Port City Castings Corp., Muskegon Castings Corp., Port City Metal Products, Port City Die Cast, Port City Custom Plastics, Alloy Resource Corp, and Mirror Image Tool.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Die Cast or Trim Operators must have knowledge of die cast processes including the function of the die, gates, runners and venting systems.

  • Supports each other in the production of good quality parts to meet standards.

  • Troubleshoot and repair casting machines and related equipment as needed.

  • Must be able to set-up and program all automation equipment.

  • Keep the cast conveyor unloaded and to prepare castings for shipment and/or secondary operations.

  • Must be capable of operating hydraulic trim press to remove excess metal as defined in work instructions

  • Able to change out trim dies and set-up per the set-up sheets.

  • Manually remove gates and runners as defined in work instructions and inspect as required to assure product quality.

  • Properly inspect as required to assure product quality and identify and tag parts per instruction sheets.

  • Must be able to evaluate the effects of the equipment on the quality of the parts.

  • Will strive to improve process to continually increase production and improve quality.

  • Must continuously train to keep up with technology.

Position Requirements:

This position requires someone with a positive attitude, willing to constantly improve, and lead others to do the same. Must be willing to embrace new technology and change. Must have good communication skills. Must be able to read and understand written directives. Must have an excellent attendance record. Needs to have good math skills. This is a physically demanding position requiring moderately heavy lifting, dexterity and good mechanical skills. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively.
