JOB PURPOSE:
Assist in clerical/education duties related to the Health and Nutrition Service Areas
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with conducting hearing and vision screenings for 3-5 year old children
- Assists with conducting height and weight measurements/analysis for 3-5 year old children
- Types letters, receipts, requisitions, notices, schedules, data entry, faxing and other clerical (i.e. filing, copying, sorting, etc.)
- Assists in computing/compiling data for ChildPlus database
- Sorts, distributes, and files records, and mail.
- Deliver health/nutrition supplies, materials, and goods to facilities or to any program related activities
- Maintains communication with parents and staff of an Early Childhood Education program
- Communicates with parents through phone calls, in person, and/or health presentations to parents conducted at school sites/other community activities as assigned.
- Assists in restocking tooth brush supplies and first aid kits/disaster kits at the school sites on a quarterly basis.
- Maintains inventory logs for health and nutrition supplies as needed.
- Process orders, receive, verify, and store supplies.
- Assists in the pre-review of health/nutrition documents
- Update monthly menus for parents and distribute accordingly
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to the Essential Functions outlined above, job duties may include the following:
- Assists in accomplishing the program's non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods).
- Supports all recruitment and enrollment activities to ensure that all schools are at full enrollment capacity and waiting lists are maintained.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Operating System and related software programs (Excel, Word, Power-Point, Publisher, Access, etc). Ability to adhere to schedules and understand and follow oral and written directions. Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year paid general clerical experience or Graduation from a certified degree program in secretarial sciences may be substituted for one year paid experience. In addition, experience and/or desire to work in a Health and/or Nutrition-related field is preferred.
EDUCATION:
High School graduate or GED equivalent is required, preferably supplemented by education or training in health billing, intake, and record systems. Associate's Degree from an accredited college or equivalent preferred.
LICENSE/CREDENTIAL/PERMIT:
- Must have automobile with adequate insurance coverage and valid CA driver's license.
- Must pass Department of Justice background check prior to start of employment
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), and Influenza.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically an office environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment.
- T.B. Test 60 days prior to employment, and every two (2) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).
