Position Summary Coordinates, supervises and provides leadership for all technical and administrative activities for staff in Histology Surgical Pathology and Cytology Preparation related to performance of routine and/or specialized tests.# Coordinates and supervises Anatomic Pathology operations with the Anatomic Pathology Manager at NorDx off site locations. Assists in long range planning and budget preparation, allocating resources within the established budget. Interacts with NorDx staff and clients providing clinical information as appropriate. Functions as a working supervisor, when necessary, performing histology technical functions/testing and cytology preparations.## Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of clinical laboratory functions, practices and procedures acquired through a Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Histotechnology, Cytology or an equivalent biological science is strongly preferred. An in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations and personnel management acquired through at least 3 years of progressive clinical laboratory experience. Certification by a recognized professional laboratory organization; HTL certification required. QIHC certification preferred.# Working knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) and word processing software (e.g. Word) and be able to work efficiently with a variety of laboratory computer systems. Well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective instruction, guidance # and leadership for the staff as well as effective communication with both internal and # external clients in a respectful and courteous manner. These skills must be of a level sufficient to counsel employees in work related and personal matters, and to negotiate solutions to employee and client relations# problems. Well-developed supervisory skills and analytical abilities sufficient to organize and control the activities of others and to make sound evaluations and recommend sound policies, procedures and goals for the department. A broad knowledge of collection techniques, specimen requirements, computer troubleshooting, ordering and billing issues and the ability to apply this knowledge to#problem solving and decision making. Ability to deal with complex technical/management problems, meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks often under stressful conditions.### Ability to effectively manage multiple departments and/or sites if needed. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.# Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.# Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.# Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend as needed. Must be able to travel among company sites as needed.
