Position Summary
We are looking for a Patient Registration Clerk who demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, reaffirms commitment to service excellence and respects patient, service provider, and organizational confidentiality procedures and protocols.
Monitors flow of patients to ensure they are on time for appointments and registers patients using computerized programs. Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits and co-pays as required. Obtains properly signed consent forms, insurance information and signatures and information as required by regulatory agencies. Performs Mediquant functions on all Medicare/Medicaid required tests and issues Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) as appropriate. Maintains department records, reports and files as required.
Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Windows operating system training course preferred.
- Successful completion of a medical terminology course preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital or medical office setting preferred.
- Demonstrates knowledge and use of PDCA methodology for quality improvement.
- Maintains and protects patient rights under HIPAA Privacy standards.
- Follows policies and procedures for the protection of the release of protected health information.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of communication skills to meet customer requests for information.
- Must be able to complete four weeks of full time training, M-F from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
