Position Summary:

Level One: Level one tool room techs under direct supervision, are responsible for running tools to the shop floor, are familiar with tool logs, broken tool report logs, and insert logs. They will also demonstrate basic skills relating to inventory control, basic shop math including cutting tool geometry, and measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc., and validating tool specifications using a presetter based on correctly interpreting tool lists. Level one tool room techs may be expected to calibrate presetters as necessary. In addition, they will also demonstrate basic computer skills and the ability to work with digital logs, tool lists and reports as needed. Typically 0-1 years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

  • Be able to read and analyze blueprints or routers to perform duties, such as furnishing tools, materials, and supplies to other workers.

  • Ability to run computer for data entry processing.

  • Constantly perform inventory control, prepare purchase requisitions and maintain tool supplies necessary to meet production demands.

  • Be able to differentiate between English and metric threads using thread gauges.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • The ability to read and write English.

  • An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.

  • A basic knowledge of measuring tools.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Basic blueprint reading competencies.

  • The ability to interpret written instructions on shop travelers.

Required Experience:

  • 0-1 years of experience.

Level of Education:

  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
