We are seeking resumes for Assistant Superintendent (Filter Plant) in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill. The International Falls facility is one of two white paper mills owned by Packaging Corporation of America.Our mill has both water and wastewater treatment systems.Water treatment consists of chemical addition, clarification and sand filtration. Wastewater treatment is accomplished through a High Purity Oxygen Activated Sludge System.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing the mill water and wastewater systems.

  • Responsible for ensuring department safety.

  • Supervise daily activities of crews around safety, operations, maintenance and training.

  • Ensure maintenance tasks are planned and completed.

  • Interpret operating data and make process changes as necessary to optimize system performance and maintain NPDES permit compliance

and mill water quality limits.

  • Budgeting and ensuring proper supplies are available within the department.

  • Provide quality assurance for the MPCA certified laboratory.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School

Diploma or greater and at least 3 years' experience in a supervisory role.

  • Experience in operating water and wastewater systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an industrial environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.

  • 5 + years' experience managing/operating activated sludge and water gravity filtration systems.

  • MN Class A/B wastewater operator's license and MDH Class A/B drinking water operator certification.

The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and

build relationships with individuals of various experience and corporate levels both within and outside of the company.

  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to create new business opportunities.

  • Solid working knowledge of PC applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.

  • Strong listening, evaluating, and problem solving skills.Ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.

  • Strong leadership skills and experience leading a team preferred, or a strong understanding of the importance of open communication

and information sharing among co-workers
